PowerUP – Power up digital citizens: children designing video games to tackle online risks is an international partnership involving four primary schools from Portugal, Greece, Poland, and Romania, together with two expert organisations in digital education and online safety from Belgium and Italy. The project promotes children’s digital literacy and online well-being by actively involving them in the design and creation of educational video games that address online risks such as cyberbullying, online grooming, misinformation, hate speech, privacy, and mental health challenges. Through this child-led, inclusive, and creative approach, children become active digital citizens, developing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while transforming their online experiences into meaningful learning opportunities.
